This Mas Doix - Salanques 2019 is a blend of 65% Grenache (80-year-old vines) 25% Carignan (110-year-old) and 10% from 15-year-old Syrah vines.
The vines are planted on hills of llicorella, Paleozoïsche laminar shale, at an altitude of 350-450 meters above sea level. Yields of 300 g grape/vine.
Certified organic viticulture. Manual harvesting in 10 kg crates. Grape by grape classification using a double selection table. Fermentation of destemmed grapes in stainless steel tanks and wooden barrel. 14 months in new fine-grained French oak barrel (50% new and 50% two-year old barrel).
This Salanques 2019 shows in the glass a medium garnet red color.
On the nose, concentrated aromas of black fruits, spices, blueberries and slightly smoky notes.
On the palate we find intense acidity that fully supports the fruit, making the perfectly ripe fruit appear fresh. A beautiful minerality gives this wine an extra dimension. The fruit and acidity, which remain perfectly balanced, pull through incredibly long.

This Mas Doix - Salanques 2019 is sourced from 70 - 90 year old Grenache and Carignan vines, as well as young vines of other varieties. The vineyards are planted on steep slopes with an altitude of 350/450 meters above sea level. The soil consists of the characteristic slate, called “Licorella”.
The grapes are hand-sorted both in the vineyard and in the cellar to remove overripe grapes. The wine matures for 14 months in new and 2nd year, French oak barrels.
