  • Tasting Note Coranya 2004

This 2004 Coranya shows in the glass a deep cherry red colour with purple edges.

In the medium(+) nose notes of ripe red fruit, plums and cassis with hints of leather, cedar, tobacco and spices.

In the mouth, full and dry with medium(+) tannins and balanced acids. Aromas of leather, red and black fruits, herbs, earthy notes and cedar and a nice long and persistent finish. This wine is no-nonsense and powerful, and despite its age still has a lively acidity.

    About this wine

This red blend of equal parts Grenache and 50% Cariñena comes from old vines. 50% Carignan from vines over 40 years old and 50% Grenache from vines over 40 years old.

Minimum intervention in the winery is the philosophy here and the wines are aged for 12 months in a combination of French (85%) and American (15%) oak. They are then bottled unrefined and unfiltered and, as a result, can be seen as some of the purest and most traditional, in all the best senses, of this magical appellation.

The Bodega Sangenís i Vaqué, from a historic Priorat family that can trace its lineage back to before 1700, was founded in 1978 by Pere Sangenís and Conxita Vaqué in the wine region of Priorat.
