Founded in 1978 by Pere Sangenis and Coxita Vaqué. The gates of the winery Sangenís i Vaqué are located on the village square of Porrera next to the winemaker Vall Llach. The winery still operates their centuries-old cellars where the fermentation and aging of their wines takes place.
Sangenís i Vaqué started planting vines in the various plots around Porrera. These plots had belonged to the Monlléo family, Pere's mother, since 1700. Since then, their daughters Maria and Núria have also joined the business.
All the vineyards are located within the village of Porrera, on terraces and steep slopes, all formed by the llicorella, the typical granite subsoil in Priorat. The company owns 15 hectares, divided into 3 parcels and between 25,000 and 30,000 bottles are bottled annually.
Production is organic and soon all the wines will be ecologically certified. Harvesting is done by hand, the wines should show the maximum expression of the terroir and give the wines time to evolve, that is the philosophy of the company.
