Joan Giné 2015

Buil & Giné

Druiven45% Cariñena, 45% Grenache and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon

This Joan Giné 2015 from winery Buil & Giné is a blend of 45% Cariñena, 45% Grenache and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. A dry red wine, complex, with the ripe grape bouquet typical of the Priorat Grenache and Carignan varieties. Well structured, persistent, full-bodied and voluptuous wine, with a long finish.

Grenache and Carignan from old vines (more than 25 years), Cabernet Sauvignon from young vines (from 10 to 15 years), from the villages Bellmunt del Priorat, la Vilella Alta, Gratallops, Torroja, La Vilella Baixa i El Molar.

Joan Giné is the first step towards a wood-ripened Priorat. Joan Giné is the grandfather of Xavi Buil i Giné who taught him a lot about viniculture. A tribute to his grandfather Giné.

In the glass a deep ruby red colour.

In the medium(+) nose aromas of cassis, black cherry and ripe red fruit with notes of sandalwood, cedar and spices.

In the mouth dry, full mouthfeel with medium acidity and medium tannins. Full and round on the palate with black cherry, plum, chocolate, black pepper and vanilla and a nice length on the finish.

    Fits perfectly with:

Red meat and generally with foods high in protein. Also with certain cured cheeses and foie. Most recommended preparation: Stews, stews and preserves. Also with sauces with a bitter touch (orange, bitter almonds, even dark chocolate).

    About this wine

The different grapes, which come from selected low-production vineyards, are fermented separately at a temperature between 26 ºC and 28 ºC, which is carefully controlled. The maceration is long (about 24 days), followed by the malolactic fermentation. The juice is then blended and the resulting wine is aged for 12 months in French and American oak barrels. During this time, the temperature is controlled at 16ºC. Once this process is complete, "coupage" and bottling are carried out.

"Rich and beautifully structured, the 2015 'Joan Giné' delivers a wonderful range on the palate from red raspberry coulis to white pepper and tobacco leaf, as well as pomegranate aromas that all dazzle on the palate. Bright, with plenty of tension, enjoy this wonderful wine over the next decade."
