This Terra de Cuques negre 2018 from winery Terroir Al Limit is a blend of 50% Carignan and the other half Cariñena.
This 2018 Terra de Cuques Negre from winery Terroir Al Limit is a beautiful blend of typical Priorat grapes that capture the complex soul of the Torroja terroir. Carignan from Licorella provides structure, backbone and acidity, while Grenache from clay provides the elegant expression of red fruit. The organically grown vines are 25 to 40 years old and grow at 400 meters altitude. The grapes are vinified for 7-10 days in whole bunches with wild yeast in cement and inox tanks before aging for 8 months, also in cement and inox.
There is a yield of 3,000 kilograms per hectare here and a production of 15,000 bottles.

Robert Parker wrote about this red blend.
The ripe red 2018 Terra de Cuques is a 50/50 blend of Garnacha and Cariñena from different vineyards around the village of Torroja (there are some grapes from Poboleda, a cooler village) that fermented equal parts in stainless steel and concrete; it aged in concrete and foudres, but with the intention to forgo oak aging in the near future. It has many notes of licorice and Mediterranean spices, mixed with ripe berries and very little impact from the oak. The palate is round and reveals abundant grainy tannins. This is a powerful Terra de Cuques. 18,000 bottles were filled in September 2020.
