This Clos de l'Obac 2014 from the eponymous winery is a wine of extraordinary power, structure and complexity. These characteristics are the result of the diversity of orientations and altitudes of seven vineyards (of a total of eight), located around the town of Gratallops and planted with vines of Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot and Cariñena grapes. In this way, while the old Cariñena and Grenache vines (planted over 50 years ago) give this wine its unmistakable Priorat character, the other varieties ensure its unique personality based on a balance between power and finesse.
This Clos de L'Obac 2014 has matured for 15 months in French barrels from Nevers, Allier and Limousin.
The wine shows a deep dark purple colour.
In the medium(+) complex nose many black fruits, sweet, blackberries, cherries, a touch of minerality, spices, tobacco, leather and licorice.
In the mouth very elegant, spicy, notes of cocoa, vanilla and with a great finish. A wine born in Gratallops on the banks of the Siurana. Spectacular!
Fits perfectly with:
Beef, Lamb, Game (e.g. Deer) and Poultry.
Clos de L'Obac 2014 has the same grape aggregation every year: 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Garnatxa, 10% Cariñena, 10% Merlot and 10% Syrah.
The assembly is identical every year, making this wine the perfect exponent of its millésime. 29 days of maceration, alcoholic fermentation in new barrels and then 15 months of aging in French barrels from Nevers, Allier and Limousin.
