Pedrabona 2023 is an intense, terroir-driven red wine from D.O.Q. Priorat, made by Josep Grau Viticultor. This wine is an honest blend of 50% Garnatxa Negra and 50% Carinyena, sourced from old vines (80–110 years old) on terraces with llicorella slate soils around Gratallops.
The grapes are hand-picked, meticulously selected, and then fermented with indigenous yeasts in large Stockinger Austrian foudres (2,500 L), with the Garnatxa vinified in smaller foudres. The Carinyena is aged for 10 months in 870 L foudres and 300 L French oak barrels.
Color: bright ruby red with violet rim.
Nose: intense aroma of dark cherries, wild berries, cassis, combined with wet rock, forest floor, and subtle balsamic herbs.
Taste: energetic and fresh with flavors of black fruit, violets, licorice, a firm but refined structure with fine, slightly dusty tannins and a long dry, mineral finish.
