Mas d'En Compte (Obac de l'Andreria) 2017 is the new wine from Cal PLa. A blend of 70% “Hairy” Grenache supplemented with Carignan. Low yielding 30 year old vines growing at an altitude of 350-400 meters. The wine is aged for 14 months in used French oak barrels of 300 liters. Only 1,500 bottles made.
The Mas d'En Compte (Obac de l'Andreria) 2017 shows all finesse wit a great aromatic intensity and complexity. Plenty of red fruits, spiciness and notes of Mediterranean herbs. Intense on the palate with a silkiness and delicate texture, firm and harmonious all the way.
Pairs perfectly with:
Wild game like goose, duck, hare, rabbit or venison. Cheeses like Garrotxa, Nevat or an aged Manchego.
Vineyards: 30 years old vines, in slate soil , height of 350-400m. Oriented mainly to north.
Alc. Vol.: 15%
Elaboration: Traditional. Harvest from the last week of September and October. The average production of 1.5 kg per vine, Macerated for 30 days with the skin. Fermentation temperature 28 degrees in steel tank.
Aging: Aged in oak for 14 months, using oak 1-2 years.
Used, 300 l. barrels of French oak.
