The Lo Coster Blanc 2022 wine from winery Sangenis I Vaqué is a blend of white Grenache and Macabeu from 40-year-old vines which matures for four months in French oak (Allier) barrels combined between new and up to five-year-old barriques. The wine is not filtered or clarified. Between 1,000 and 2,000 bottles are produced.
Lo Coster' means 'the steep slope' in Catalan, which is where the grapes for this wine grow. These slopes are very rich in slate (llicorella), so characteristic of the subsoil of the Priorat wines.
In the glass a medium citrus colour with green reflections.
In the medium(+) nose aromas of ripe peach, pineapple and banana with notes of orange peel, nuts, dried apricots and almonds.
On the palate, dry, medium(++) bodied with medium acidity and rich, slightly creamy mouthfeel. Flavours of tropical fruits, apricot, elderflower, light cedar, almonds with smoky nuances. Nice medium(++) finish.
Fits perfectly with:
Fish, goat cheese, cured and hard cheese, mushroom, poultry, shellfish and vegetarian dishes.
The Lo Coster Blanc 2022 is a beautiful and rich white Priorat wine. The 2019 edition scored 90 Guia Penin points. The blend of 85% White Grenache and the 15% Macabeu is aged for four months in French oak (mix bam new and older barrels).
The grapes used for this wine have been nurtured by Priorat's exceptional terroir and climate, giving a certain aromatic complexity to this wine.
