The Dara 2021 from winery Sangenis I Vaqué is a blend of 45% Grenache, 45% Carignan and 10% Merlot grapes. The wine has matured for 12 months in 4-5 year old oak barrels, half 'barriques' American and the other half French oak.
The Dara is basically their 'entry level red wine' and therefore ideally suited to getting acquainted with the wines of the Priorat wine region although advanced Priorat wine lovers will also appreciate this blend. Dara means 'now' in Catalan and by that they mean that this is a wine you can just enjoy straight away. So a little less complex than their other red wines.
A wine to drink now, but also a wine that can be kept for 3 years.
The wine is not filtered and not clarified - a beautiful natural wine, which can cause you to encounter sediment at the bottom of the bottle. About 7,500 bottles of this Dara are produced every year.
This Dara 2021 shows a deep dark red colour.
In the nose a good aromatic intensity and concentration, fresh aromas of red fruits, spices, liquorice and soft mineral accents.
On the palate, it is a structured and concentrated wine, with good integration of fruit notes, pleasant velvety texture, notes of creamy oak, good acidity and a long slightly spicy finish.
Fits perfectly with:
Cheese, cold cuts, grilled meats and rice.
This red blend is the "entry-level red wine" of Sangenís i Vaqué. With 12 months of aging in older barrels, this entry-level wine is a little less complex than the other wines, but perfect for a meal on the terrace or with nice tapas dishes. The wine scores 4.0 on Vivino. A very nice score for a wine of this price.
The Merlot gives the wine an accessible touch. The ideal wine to get acquainted with the wines from the Priorat region. Guia Penin's rating for the 2021 are 90 points. Below are the scores of the past years.
