Vall Por is Catalan for "Valley of Fear". That was the name of the valley in which the town of Porrera is located today in the Middle Ages because robbers and wolves did mischief here. With the settlement of the valley and the establishment of that small settlement, fear disappeared and the name of the town said it all: Porrera stands for "Por era" - popularly translated "fear was once".
