This 2019 M de Mas Igneus is a blend of 40% Cabernet Franc, 28% Grenache 25% Merlot and 7% Carignan.
This red wine takes its name from Matteo, the name of the son of Ornella and Jerome, the owners of the vineyard. Obtained from the assemblage of international and national varieties. All grapes are selected and vinified in order of ripening, until the final blending.
The 65% (international varieties) is aged in French oak barrels to get the oxygen needed to polish the tannins and get some more complex nuances. The remaining 35% (national varieties) in steel vats to preserve the fruit purity of Carignan and Grenache.
In the glass a brilliant purple garnet color with ruby reflections.
In the medium (+) nose aromas of red cherries, wild berries and raspberries. Also stone fruits like peach and plum, red berry jelly, cooked plums, fresh leather and a hint of fine cocoa powder.
