This 2018 Fusió de Mas Igneus is a blend of 33% Grenache, 30% Carignan, 18% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 4% Syrah.
This red blend is an assemblage of the wines from three production areas (Coster de L'Ermita, Escaladei, and Barranc dels Comellars). Each area with a different type of Llicorella to emphasize the mineral sensation on the palate. Parceled selection from the vineyards to the assemblage.
Due to the small yields of some of their parcels, some batches are vinified in vertical barrels with manual pigeage as a method for the extraction of color. Aged for ten months in French oak barrels of varying capacity.
Twelve months later, the winemaker, together with the owner, decides on the date of bottling.
In the glass a brilliant purple garnet color with ruby reflections.
In the medium(+) nose aromas of ripe red fruits, berries and black fruits with notes of cedar, licorice, Mediterranean herbs and spices.
In the powerful mouth, dry and soft with fine and ripe tannins, fruit, pepper, earthy and a more noticeable hint of oak. Nice medium(++) length in the finish.
Pairs perfectly with:
