The Les Eres Vinyes Velles 2017 from winery Joan Simó is a blend of 75% Cariñena and 25% Garnatxa Peluda.
This is a special selection from Els Carners, a small vineyard with 100-year-old Garnatxa Peluda (hairy Grenache), located at the highest point of Bellmunt. This is a very special area where the Garnatxa Peluda is very fruity, elegant and complex, nuanced and balanced, giving a wine with a lot of character. This Grenache is complemented by grapes from a small vineyard of 100-year-old Cariñena that has stood the test of time on La Garranxa. It is a fresh Cariñena that goes perfectly with the Garnatxa Peluda. The wine matures for at least 18 months in new French oak.
The 2017 Les Eres has a cherry red color with garnet reflections.
In the nose is an explosion of aromas of ripe black fruits such as blackberries and currants along with spicy notes of pepper, cloves and pencil sharpening that will change within minutes to roasted and mineral sensations.
On the palate it is full of nice complexity, acidity and tannin. The blend is structured and long and very tasty on the palate. Ripe tannins with lots of personality. Very persistent finish.
Fits perfectly with
