This Lo Coster de Carinyena 2023 from winery Sangenís I Vaqué is the first vintage of this new monocépage from 100% Carinyena grapes from a small vineyard planted on the slopes (Costers) in the area of La Cometa, Porrera.
Certified organic and vinified in small stainless steel tank where the malolactic transformation also takes place. Then the wine matures for 9 months in French oak barrels. Small production of 1,133 bottles.
This Lo Coster de Carinyena 2023 shows in the glass a deep dark purple color.
In the forward and open nose aromas'of black fruit tinged by Mediterranean forest spices with a mineral background and a delicate sweet aroma.
On the palate it is ample with polished tannins, good fruit weight with black fruit with chocolate-like notes and spicy notes.
Only 1.133 bottles of this first vintage were bottled. Josep Rocca (the renowned sommelier known for his expertise in wine pairing and his work at the three-Michelin-starred restaurant El Celler de Can Roca in Spain) bought up virtually the entire vintage. We were able to hijack a few more bottles!
