White wines from Priorat - Granit 2023

Granit 2023

Josep Grau Viticultor

DruivenGarnacha Blanca

This Granit 2023 from Josep Grau Viticultor (D.O. Montsant) is made from 100% Garnacha Blanca grapes grown on three terraces with granite soil in Marçà (approx. 450 m altitude).

The grapes are picked by hand, lightly pressed (±7 hours) and fermented spontaneously with indigenous yeasts in large Stockinger / Austrian oak foudres (approx. 2,000 – 2,500 L). The wine is then aged for 7–9 months ‘sur lies’ in the same foudres, with minimal addition of sulphite for maximum terroir expression

    About this wine
    • Granit is named after the granite soils in which the vineyard is planted.
    • The wine reflects the climate of Montsant: weather influences such as the Garbí wind provide salty, fresh minerality and mirror the terroir.
    • Production according to minimal intervention: spontaneous fermentation, long maturation on lees, use of neutral large oak barrels to preserve purity.
    • Leading scores: ±92 points from James Suckling and Wine Advocate for previous vintages, and 2023 is expected to receive a similar rating.
