This white Priorat is a blend of Grenache blanc, Macabeu, and Trepat Blanc from 80/120-year-old vines. The grapes are gently pressed with their stems for two hours. White Grenache ferments and matures in Austrian oak foudres, while Macabeu and Trepat Blanc ferment and mature in French oak barrels. The wine has depth, complexity, and elegance, and certainly does not lack power. A beautiful white Priorat with aromatic herbs, straw, some earthy rusticity, and lots of character and freshness. 1,150 bottles produced.
This white Priorat wine—Carenes 2023—takes us on a journey to an unusual white concept in Priorat. The complexity of an unparalleled region is fully apparent. All this combined with an elegance and freshness that make it extremely seductive.
