Druiven70% Garnatxa Negra, 20% Carinyena and 10% Syrah

This Vespres Negre 2023 from Josep Grau is a blend of Grenache, Cariñena, and Syrah from 50/70-year-old vines. Fermentation takes place in cement tanks, and half of the aging occurs in concrete tanks and the other half in 2,500-liter foudres. The Vespres Negre 2023 is juicy, spicy, and fresh—with a velvety texture and remarkable drinkability.

    • This Vespres Negre 2023 has an intense cherry red color with purple reflections. 
    • Nose: aromas of ripe red berries (cherries, raspberries), balsamic nuances, light herbs, and smokiness
    • Taste: smooth and elegant, with refreshing acidity, silky tannins, a spicy undertone, and a long, mineral-rich finish
    About this wine
    • The name Vespres is a tribute to the Carthusian monks who held evening prayers at 6:45 p.m., after which they enjoyed a glass of wine. The wine thus captures the rich tradition of vineyards in Montsant. 
    • The wine is bottled unfiltered to preserve maximum expression and texture.
    • Vespres has received excellent scores, including 92 points from Decántalo and Tim Atkin for the 2022 vintage, based on a similar style.

    Over the years, it has received excellent reviews. Perhaps the most notable was in 2013, when Vespres 2010 appeared in the prestigious American magazine Wine&Spirits (100 best wines in the world) and was named the best wine in terms of value for money out of the 100 selected wines on the American market, with 94 points.
