This 2025 Kyrie is one of the most beautiful and complex white wines from the D.O.Q Priorat. At the bottom of Mas d'en Bruno, with a southern exposure, lies the small Kyrie vineyard, which contains vines of four classic white grapes of Catalonia: White Grenache, Macabeu, Xarel-lo and Muscat of Alexandria.
The optimal ripening of the four grapes that make up this white wine, along with a light maceration of the grape skins, gives Kyrie exceptional structure and complexity as well as exquisite finesse. Aged in new barrels of French oak, it offers excellent potential for longevity and good development in the bottle over a period of many years.
This 2025 Kyrie from winery Clos de L'Obac has a golden yellow, amber color in the glass.
A very beautiful and expressive nose with pear, yellow apple, nuts, straw, marzipan, almond, honey with a soft butter touch and sweet spices.
On the palate a great mouthfeel with medium(+) acidity and aromas of citrus, apricot and pineapple and notes of caramel, honey, cedar and brioche. Ending with a big finish and the potential to age very nicely and long. Not an everyman's friend but the true wine lover can certainly appreciate this one.
Pairs perfectly with:
Hard cheeses, oily fish, seafood, poultry, pork.
Kyrie is the prestigious white wine from Clos de L’Obac and one of the best-known white wines from the D.O.Q. Priorat. The wine comes from the small Kyrie vineyard, located at the foot of Mas d’en Bruno. Its southern exposure ensures optimal ripening, while the poor, stony soils of Priorat contribute to the wine’s tension and minerality.
The blend consists of four classic white grape varieties from Catalonia: Garnatxa Blanca, Macabeu, Xarel·lo, and Moscatel de Alejandría. The grapes are harvested separately when they reach optimal ripeness. A light maceration with the grape skins adds extra structure and complexity.
After vinification, the wine ages in new French oak barrels. The oak is not intended to dominate the wine but rather forms part of Kyrie’s long-term evolution. The combination of ripe fruit, structure, acidity, minerality, and oak makes this a Priorat white with exceptional aging potential.
Kyrie is one of those wines that demonstrate Priorat has much more to offer than just powerful red wines. It is a characterful, gastronomic white wine that can continue to develop with a few years of bottle aging, making it appealing to serious wine enthusiasts and collectors.
