This 2018 Mas Doix - Salanques comes from 70 - 90 year old Grenache and Carignan vines, as well as young vines of the other varieties. The vineyards are planted on steep slopes with an altitude of 350/450 meters above sea level. The soil consists of the characteristic slate called "Licorella".
The grapes are sorted by hand both in the vineyard and in the cellar to remove overripe grapes.The wine was aged for 14 months in new and 2nd year, French oak barrels.
This 2018 Salanques shows in the glass a medium garnet red color.
In the nose, concentrated aromas of black fruits, spices, blueberries and slightly smoky notes.
On the palate, we find intense acidity that fully supports the fruit, making the perfectly ripe fruit appear fresh. A beautiful minerality gives this wine an extra dimension. The fruit and acidity, which remain perfectly balanced, pull incredibly long.

This 2018 Mas Doix - Salanques is a blend of 65% Grenache (80-year-old vines) 25% Carignan (110-year-old) and 10% from 15-year-old Syrah vines.
The vines are planted on hills of llicorella, Paleozoic laminar shale, at an altitude of 350-450 meters above sea level. Yields of 300 g grape/vine.
Certified organic viticulture. Manual harvesting in 10 kg crates. Grape by grape classification using a double selection table. Fermentation of destemmed grapes in stainless steel tanks and wooden barrel. 14 months in new fine-grained French oak barrel (50% new and 50% two-year old barrel).
18,000 bottles were bottled in June 2020 without clarification or filtration.
