The 2017 1902 Centenary Carignan is a red wine made from 100% 115 year old Carignan vines. The grapes are hand sorted both in the vineyard and in the cellar to remove overripe grapes.
The wine has a maceration period of 4/5 weeks and then matures for 16 months in new, very fine-grained French oak barrels. The wine is bottled without clarification or filtering. Only 3 barrels produced, 940 bottles numbered.
The 1902 Centenary Carignan 2017 Priorat from the wine region of Catalonia, has a dense purple-red color in the glass. At the edges, this Spanish red also shows a transition to garnet red.
After the first swirl, this red wine reveals a high viscosity, which can be seen in church windows at the edge of the glass. On the palate, the 1902 Centenary Carignan Priorat from Mas Doix starts out wonderfully aromatic, fruity and balanced. There is dry and really dry. This red wine is among the latter, as it was filled with only 2 grams of residual sugar in the bottle.
The texture of this powerful red wine is wonderfully silky on the palate. Thanks to its lively fruit acidity, the 1902 Centenary Carignan Priorat is exceptionally fresh and lively on the palate. The finish of this aged red wine from the Catalan Priorat DOQ, ultimately convinces with a remarkably long finish.

Planted on the hills of "llicorella", Paleozoic laminar shale, at an altitude of 350-450 meters above sea level. Yields of 300 g grape/vine.
Grapes are harvested manually in 10 kg crates. Grape by grape classification using a double selection table. Fermentation of destemmed grapes in stainless steel tanks finished in wood. Then for 16 months in new French oak barrels.
984 bottles bottled in April 2018 without clarification or filtration.
