This 1902 Centenary Carignan 2018 is made from 100% 115-year-old Carignan vines. Planted on the hills of "llicorella", Paleozoïsche laminar slate, at an altitude of 350-450 meters above sea level. Yields of 300 g of grape/vine.

Grapes are harvested manually in 10 kg crates. Grape by grape classification using a double selection table. Fermentation of destemmed grapes in stainless steel tanks finished in wood.  Then for 16 months in new French oak barrels.
984 bottles bottled in April 2018 with no clarification or filtration.

    Tasting Note 1902 Centenary Carignan 2018

    The 1902 Centenary Carignan 2018 Priorat from the wine-growing region of Cataloniaë,  has a dense purple-red color in the glass. At the edges, this Spanish red also shows a transition to garnet red.

    After the initial swirl, this red wine reveals high viscosity, which can be seen in church windows at the edge of the glass. On the palate, Mas Doix's 1902 Centenary Carignan Priorat starts out wonderfully aromatic, fruity and balanced. There is dry and really dry. This red wine belongs to the latter, as it was filled with only 2 grams of residual sugar in the bottle.

    The texture of this powerful red wine is wonderfully silky on the palate. Thanks to its lively fruit acidity, the 1902 Centenary Carignan Priorat is exceptionally fresh and lively on the palate. The finale of this aged red wine from the Catalan Priorat DOQ, finally convinces with a remarkably long finish.

    Pairs perfectly with: 

    Richer poultry dishes (turkey, duck), roast pork or even a meaty beef brisket. mild cheese (such as Gouda) and vegetables such as eggplant, leeks and peppers.

    About this wine

    The 1902 Centenary Carignan 2018 is a red wine made from 100% 115-year-old Carignan vines. Grapes are hand-sorted both in the vineyard and in the cellar to remove over-ripe grapes.

    The wine has a maceration period of 4/5 weeks and then matures for 16 months in new, very fine-grained French oak barrels. The wine is bottled without clarification or filtering. Only 3 barrels produced, 940 bottles numbered.
