Clos Galena was a dream come true for Miquel Pérez who started the company in 1999. He saw the potential of the Priorat region almost 25 years ago. Since his death in 2013, his wife Merche Dalmau has been at the helm. She continued the preservation of the company and the making of organic wines with unprecedented passion and skill. She does this together with a team led by winemaker Toni Coca - a household name in Priorat.
Toni wants to transfer the essence of the unique area that is the Priorat to the wines, his philosophy is to make high quality, unique and special wines that excite all the senses. He can only achieve this by considering all aspects of his work: ensuring that the soil remains vital, working organically and taking the utmost care during the winemaking process. This seems very simple but in Priorat nothing is simple.
The Clos Galena winery currently has 30 acres of vineyards surrounded by forests and nature in the municipality of El Molar.
They have vines of red Garnacha, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cariñena, Syrah and white Garnacha. Yields are kept small (0.5-1 kg per vine), with a traditional production system to produce high quality wines. In addition to the Priorat, they also make fine wines in Montsant and Terra Alta.
